First leg of our journey saw is leaving home at tea time to get to our overnight hotel at Heathrow, the Holiday Inn on Bath Road, just a 5 minute drive from the airport. There really isn’t going to be much to say about today, but it’s there for completeness!
The next few days will see us travelling through three countries until we arrive in Singapore on Wednesday afternoon.

An early start at 5am to get our flight from Heathrow to Oslo. All pretty uneventful and we arrived on time. We had a few hours to kill but not really enough time to do anything other than hang around the airport. After a couple of hours we were able to check in. Our flight left on time and we were soon heading south towards Doha.

By the time we arrived in Doha, my body want really sure what time it was. But the temperature was much warmer until we got into the air conditioned building.
After almost 3 hours in Doha we boarded or second flight on Qatar which would take us to Singapore. By now it was arrive midnight UK time so we were pretty tired. On board we had more food, only a light snack this time before settling down for a bit of sleep.

I managed a few hours and woke to breakfast before landing into Singapore. The temperature is much warmer now at some 33 degrees! Immigration was thankfully painless and we caught a taxi to our hotel for the night, the Hilton on Orchard Road.

After a couple of drinks on the 22nd floor we grabbed a taxi from our hotel to the waterfront where we meet Jayne (who we agreed I had not seen for at least 20 years), and her husband Tony.

We had a meal overlooking the water and the famous ship like building. After food and some beers Jayne and Tony took us to the Altitude bar which has a 360 view of Singapore.

We eventually got a taxi back and had a last drink at the Irish pub opposite the hotel, (please don’t judge us, there weren’t many options!) before heading to bed for a long sleep!
Well here we go again at the start of hopefully another wonderful trip.already some special moments, not least bring reunited with Jayne. Let’s hope meeting with the group is as successful. X

Hi Ceri & Ed
We’re looking forward to reading about your travels. We have been to most of the places on your itinerary on dive trips & it is an amazing part of the world, especially underwater.
We climbed Mt Kinabalu but I think there is an easier track these days. We drove from sea level then climbed the mountain in one day so altitude was a bit of a problem. So glad we did it though.
Also in Labuan I (Corinne) was buying shoes for less than Jak was paying for a beer at the hotel!
Enjoy your journey- we’ll follow with interest.
